Analyse on E-Commerce Websites Homepages

Regarding features of both websites, this post will be based on four aspects of comparison, which are focus, game library, game purchasing options and offers. The homepages I am going to compare are the Steam website and The Green Man Gaming homepage. Both are game services.

Focus

Both homepages are straight to the point, and present games to the user. In other words, the first element both homepages display to users is games.

Game Library

Steam and Green Man Gaming have a large library of games displayed on the homepage, however, Steam is known for having many more games than Green Man Gaming. To have an idea Green Man Gaming has a library of more than 10.000 games, while Steam has a library of more than 50.000 games.

Game Purchasing Options

Both homepages provide users a large amount of games, however, Steam focus on provide digital games to user, and on the other side, Green Man Gaming focus on providing game keys, in other words, users can not download games directly from the Green Man Gaming website, as they will get game keys that can be redeemed in another store such as steam. Firstly, the user needs to purchase the respective key, then download and play

On GMG, users pay for game keys, then go to a store, then download and play

On steam, users pay for games then download and play

Offers

Steam and Green Man Gaming display seasonal offers to users. In any season of the year, whether summer or winter, both services opt to reduce prices and make it more affordable for users. Many other services take this approach, and Green Man Gaming and Steam are illustrative examples.
